Saturday, June 11 - Day 79 - Mile 881.4 - Loft Mountain Campground.
Lots of thunder & lighting last night but rain never came so we woke to dry tents.
Today we hiked about 16 miles further into the shenandoehs over a combination of level and some steep ups. VA still is giving us a challenge especially with this heat but were making good time. The trail crisscrossed the Skyline Drive several times today.
We're at our destination for today which is a big campground right on the trail. There's a camp store where we were able to get snacks and a shower. Once again ice cream was on the menu to try and slow down this weight loss.
It's now about 5:30 PM and we're in our tents resting before dinner. We understand there are a number of places along the trail here in the shenandoehs where we can stop off to get a meal. Tomorrow morning we have an opportunity to have breakfast about 4 miles up the trail. This will be a wonderful treat.
All continues to go super well.
Love,
Trolley Stop (a bit older today)
Editors Note: Trolley Stop turned 67 on June 11th :)
