Sorry If I repeat some stuff, but not sure what's getting thru to Beth with poor Internet service...
Today I hiked Blood Mountain in the continuing rain. Stopped for the day at Mountain Crossings to stay for the night and have my bag checked to see what I could send home...about 7 pounds of stuff.
Including the Approach started on Friday I've hiked almost 40 miles so far with this 41 pound pack. I keep thinking of my Grandson Logan who's about this weight.
I've met some wonderful and colorful people on the Trail and have heard a lot of trail lore about hikers, wildlife and tough climbs.
It's now 9:30, way beyond "hiker midnight", but everyone was having a great time meeting each other and telling stories. We also were the beneficiaries of great hamburgers and lasagna for lunch & dinner provided by two different church groups. It's nice being indoors out of the rain for the night even in tight quarters.
I think Georgia is a wonderful training ground for things to come.
Tomorrow morning it's off to another interesting day.
Roger (still no official trail name, but many have been suggested)
Great to hear from you! Thanks for including us on journey.....and thanks for doing all the work.

I'm a sorority sister of Beth's and what you are doing is awesome! As a member of the ATC and frequent hiker myself, I love hearing different stories from other hikers. As I sit in my office, I'll be sending positive thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteRemember, it's just one step at a time :-) And as I sit in my office, I'm green with envy!
Happy trails,
Laura
