Journal Entry # 65

Wednesday, June 1 - Day 69 - Mile 738.4 - Bobblets Gap Shelter.

Happy June. June is bustin' out all over up here.  Buffalo Bobby says June only busts out in Maine.

Officially 1/3 done today.

Had breakfast at the hotel and were on the trail by 7:12.  Found out today from Gail that she has hurt her foot and will need to have it checked in Roanoke. Hope all goes well.  Also found out that Purple Haze decided to leave the trail in Pearisburg.
.
Very hot and buggy day. This shelter has very little tenting so it's into the shelter with the bugs tonight for me.

The hike today was relatively mild compared to the last couple of weeks. We came out onto the Blue Ridge Parkway for the first time at the Taylor Mountain Overlook.  The trail paralleled the parkway for quite a while.  We met a  couple from Wisconsin who were in a convertible taking in the view. We talked for a few minutes about the hike and hoped they may have a couple of cold drinks with them...but no.

It's very hot and humid right now. Tonight thunder storms are expected which may cool things down a bit.

Love,
Trolley Stop
