Journal Entry # 66

Thursday, June 2 - Day 70 - Mile 755 - Camp Site near Floyd Mountain.

Restless night with the bugs, so up early glad to get hiking. Once again we took the wrong trail for about 1/2 mile right out of the shelter. Need to do less talking and more looking. The trail markings were sketchy so anyone could have missed it. So a half hour lost right off the bat.

The trail once again paralleled and crisscrossed the Blue Ridge Parkway early this morning. We saw Sharp Top & Flat Top (Peaks of Otter) from a scenic overlook. Very familiar territory from our Roanoke days and continued visits to The Peaks of Otter Lodge.

The day started relatively cool compared to yesterday but heated up pretty good by afternoon. Despite our error in the morning we still managed a 16+ mile day.

Today my objective was to camp to avoid the bugs by tenting and we were lucky to find a perfect camping site with water. It's now 6:00PM and dinner is done and we're relaxing in our tents - bug free.

All & all a great day.

Love,
Trolley Stop
